what is text messaging?  

Text messaging (or Short Message Service — SMS for short) is like e-mail for your mobile phone, only your carrier limits the number of characters you can receive in these messages. To find out if your plan includes text messaging, or to get text messaging activated, find your mobile phone carrier below and click the link and call your carrier directly.

ALLTEL subscribers:
To receive Upoc text messaging on your mobile phone, you need a digital or dual mode phone with text messaging activated.

If you are unsure:

1) Call ALLTEL Customer Care at 1-800-255-8351.
2) Request to have text messaging activated on your phone.
3) Continue with the Upoc registration process.
4) Close this window.

AT&T subscribers:
Most AT&T phones support Text Messaging. You will be charged per message unless you sign up for one of their messaging packages. To confirm your phone supports Text Messaging, check out the compatible phones list:

If you have an older phone that is no longer sold online, call Customer Care at 1-800-331-0500 or dial 611 from your wireless phone.

If you know you have Text Messaging, Close this window and continue with your Upoc registration.

1) Call AT&T Customer Service at 1-866-331-0500.
2) Request to have Text Messaging added to your account.
3) Choose one of the messaging packages.
4) Continue with the Upoc registration process.

To receive Upoc text messages on your mobile phone, you need a digital or dual mode phone with text messaging activated. In AT&T wireless jargon, these types of phones are called "Digital PCS phones with text messaging service activated."

If you want to sign up for Verizon's Mobile Messenger Plan or are unsure if text messaging works on your phone:

2) Request to have Mobile Messenger Service activated on your phone. There are 100 and 600 messages/month plans.
3) Continue with the Upoc registration process.
